Hanna’s Mesmerize Reflection
The recent visit to the mesmerize we had the opportunity to be immersed in the world of dreams. Dreams are unique and up to the interpretation of the person dreaming. It was very interesting that there was no set storyline as there were three paths that could be taken throughout the exhibit. It was unpredictable without it being random as you walked through what felt like a dream. With your head in the clouds (literally) we were able to interact with the art installations by being able to write in your own dream, touching different textures from the walls to the scientific objects laid out in what looks like a lab. I also enjoyed the serene music that had a calming effect that almost sounded like music they use in shows in movies to signify that a character is now sleeping and what you are seeing on the screen is now a dream.
What I felt was missing from the exhibit was the story. I know there were signs describing how the dreams came into effect and how the cristal was at the center of the dream, but personally I felt that if there was an aspect of the dream that tied into all of the art installations it would’ve put it over the top. I feel like oftentimes dreams are stories or aspects of your daily life that get put into a show or movie like viewing in your mind. Although dreams are unpredictable and sometimes they may not make sense, there's still a sense of story that I believe was missing from the exhibit.
I believe that these words connect all four of the projects:
Resourceful, Compassion, mindful
